5 Home Remedies For Clogged Drains

unclog your drains

Your sink is clogged. It happens to the best of us. These 5 home remedies for unclogging your drain work for flawlessly on bathroom and kitchen drains.

Is your drained clogged and you don’t have any Drano? Does it take a long time for your sink to drain so much to the point that it’s personally irritating?

Home Remedy #1

Grab some vinegar and baking soda. Pour about half a cup of baking soda into the drain and a cup of vinegar. Once it starts foaming wash it out with hot water.

When these two ingredients are combined the citric acid reacts with the sodium bicarbonate that is in baking soda. The carbonic acid is unstable so it immediately turns into carbon dioxide air bubbles.

These bubbles help to scrap away the junk inside your pipe while the expanding air pushes it down the drain pipe. No more clog.

Home Remedy #2

This next home remedy is something many of your put in your body on a daily basis (shame on you) and it’s not more than black tar – pure garbage (see video below). It wreaks havoc on your body but does wonders for unclogging sinks. We’re talking about Coca-Cola.

Allow your sink to completely drain and pour a 2-liter bottle of coke down the drain. It actually is more effective than Drain. Share a Coke with your drain, not with your loved ones and observe how the coke eats away your drain problems.

Let it sit for about 15 -20 minutes and you will be amazed how the Coke was able to block the debris that was blocking your drain.

Home Remedy #5

Unclogging your sink drain with a Zip-It tool is easy. This is a quick way to clear a clogged or slow-running drain. This is a thin plastic strip with specially designed sharp teeth that grabs a hold of the clog and pull it out of your drain.

It’s especially effective on hair clogs. Remove the drain stopper and being careful to avoid the sharp teeth, insert the Zip-It drain tool into the drain until the handle meets the top of the drain.

Pull the Zip-It tool out slowly to avoid splashing debris out of the drain. Repeat the process until the clog is free and the drain is clear. Then replace the drain stopper.

This tool is designed to be thrown away after each use. Do not attempt to clean the tool, the sharp teeth on the tool could cause injury.
